RedHat installer not loading in MkLinux
I'm trying to install MkLinux Pre-R1 G7 on a Performa 6115. Problem is, the RedHat installer isn't running. I've partitioned my disk, put installed the
extensions and control panels, and have the mach_servers folder in my MacOS / directory with the vmlinux+installer and other files. I edited lilo.conf to set rootdev to /dev/sda5, the MacOS partition with the /mach_servers directory, but
when I try to boot, I get the following:

Mach 3.0 VERSION (GENERIC #7.): bacon <osfmk>; Sun May 30...
MACH microkernel is booting on a Power Macintosh NuBus class machine
mem_size = 40M
vm_page_bootstrap: 9092 free pages

Then... nothing! Ok, so it's a slow, tired, old Mac. I waited. Went and did something else for an hour, came back, and still the installer hadn't loaded. Am I forgetting something? Suggestions?
I had pretty much the same problem on a Performa 6115.
Elsewhere in the FAQ, someone recommended turning
off virtual memory (on the MacOS side). I tried this
and it worked. This is not just to run the installer--
still have to turn off vm any time I want to run Linux.

I don't know if my problem fits in this category but here we go: I'm trying to install
mklinux drs-3 on a umax pulsar 604e without virtual memory. I copied all the mac-os files, copied mach_servers,
red_hat and I even figured out how to partition my hd and locate bootstrap.conf but
after I got past the point where the "bootstrap.conf can't be located" message
would appear, the screen turns black and stays that way until I reboot... Help!

I don't know if this is the same problem either, but I try to install MK DR3 on my 500 MHz G3 (beige model, upgraded). Wen I try to start the installer by booting from the CD, the system seems to load up (I get a list of hardware), but after loading in my ethernet-system the whole thing stops before the installer opens... Is my installer CD in the wrong format (MacOS Standard), or else, maby, my changed processor is not compatible, i don't know...
Welcomr to e-mail me if you know what I can do...
I have a problem similar(???) to this one. After partitioning and copying all the files from the MKLinux DR3 CD to my hard drive, I restart, hoping to boot off the cd and run the installer. However, when I select the MKLinux operating system, I get an error message saying "Sorry! You must upgrade the MKLinux Booter to boot this OFS MK kernel." I am using a Performa 6200CD, which is on the supported machines list. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Sometimes, when the kernel loads, it (anyone, god or man, know why?) turns the screen brightness (at least on my PowerBook) down to zero. This TURNS OFF the screen -- making it black -- and it *LOOKS* like the PowerBook has hung.
Just press the Brightness-Up button once, and the installer may just be staring you in the face. :)
