Metadb Bug - Slow Log Ins
If your GNOME session seems to be taking much longer then usual to log in, you may be able to blame the metadb bug.

The ~/.metadb file in your home directory (the one containing essentail info for GNOME session, has become corrupted.

You may need to get the lastest stable version of GNOME and/or delete ~/.metadb.

Another solution for slow x logins is to delete the file ~/ICEauthority the command from a shell is 'rm ~/ICEauthority'. This can also be done through a file manager in GNOME or KDE after starting X. The next boot should go faster.
