Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : System Configuration : PPP :
modem doesn't respond during PPP chat script
this has been seen on the new powerbooks. The modem doesn't
respond to input from the chatscript unless you add a small
delay to allow the modem to set itself up. Change the first
string you send to the modem to add pauses by using \d. You
may need to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0
directly, if your GUI PPP tool is uncooperative. for example: chat-ppp0: TIMEOUT 60 '' '\d\d\n\dATZ' 'OK' 'ATDT1234567' 'ogin:--ogin:' 'username' 'assword:--assword:' 'password' oly@mail.com
