Systems:
RedHat LinuxPMac (RedHat Linux in general...? An expected error!)

While installing RedHat everything works until selected RPMs are being installed, at which point the installer exits (complaining that 'Data type 9 is not supported'). What happened, what can I do?

Reason for error:
The version of the rpm that was being installed is newer than the installer's package manager and includes a data type the manager doesn't understand (hence the error text).

Solution:
Get a newer installer or get an older copy of the rpm(s).
And then upgrade them post-install using the techniques at the topic noted above.
This error will probably only occur if the rpm & installer directories are updated. while downloading, keep an eye on dates in ftp clients.
