(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) Distributions :
What's included with the LinuxPPC CD? (due 8/1/98)
LinuxPPC contains a slightly newer rpm set than pre-DR3. Installers are present for the 2.1.24 stable linuxpmac kernel for PCI Powermacs, a 2.1.x kernel (I am not sure which one) for PREP machines and the installer and kernels for Mklinux which are the same as the ones in pre-DR3.

So, The LinuxPPC CD sounds like the answer for anyone who wants an up-to-date version of pre-DR3 MkLinux as well as people who want LinuxPPC.
