(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) Wish List :
Wish my Geoport worked under Linux
While there are only a few people that are running MkLinux or LinuxPPC on
their Power Macintosh computers, and probably even fewer who have Geoport
pods, I think this would make a worthwhile project. Some items that would
come out of it include:

o Hayes AT command lexer/parser,

o GPL source for a software modem (does such a beast exist now?), and

o Better documentation of the Geoport hardware (as opposed to simple serial
  port hardware).

Apple, at one time, pitched the Geoport hardware as an industry standard
way to integrate telephony devices with computers. What ever became of
that?

In any case, this message is aimed at gathering interest in such a project.
Nothing has been started yet.

Note that if a Geoport driver existed for LinuxPPC, then people (like me) who use the Spiga terminal adapter for ISDN from Sagem might be able to use it under Linux. As it is, I have no way to use networking on Linux!
It was mentioned in the linuxppc-user list that a developer has contacted Sagem and offered to write the driver, if they send him the spec. By January 1999, they had not responded:
