(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) Wish List :
Wish Redhat had an official Redhat/PPC distribution
It would be nice if Redhat had an official PPC distribution to complement their Intel/Sparc/Alpha distributions.

That would be just perfect... While we're at it, I wish they'd support my thinkpad 850.

It could be ported very easily, basically you would install rpm on a Linuxppc machine, compile all the redhat 5.2 rpm's on it, make rpm's for the PPC kernel, and you would basically have to make a new installation program or modify it a whole lot. I'd do it if I had a mac but I have a real computer instead.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the LinuxPPC distribution is really close to the RedHat distribution, and YellowDog is about as close to RedHat as x86 derivates like Mandrake. So the only thing you'd really get would be the ability to buy a single box that had a PPC CD along with the Intel, Alpha, and Sparc CDs....
