(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) MkLinux :
PB3400 won't reboot after shutdown
after giving the PB3400 running LinuxPPC the shutdown command. It no longer reboots. The boot process begins but the screen never changes color and the screen stops shortly after "mapped chips655550...."

The nvram or PRAM has been corrupted because a mac (hfs) partition was mounted in the linux system and not unmounted before shutdown.

cmd-opt-P-R won't clear the problem.
Techtool v1.1.4 won't clear the problem.

Techtool v1.1.5 WILL clear the problem.

Solution is to put your mac partitions in the fstab list so they automatically mount and unmount.
