(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) PowerPC Linux :
Blank screen during install?
i had this trouble on a PowerBase, and the answer is known to work on a PowerCenter as well (in fact, a PowerCenter user was kind enough to let me in on this) Try setting your output_device to "/bandit/ATY,mach64_3D_pcc". That's the absolute string which "screen" fails to point to.

i have a power base and i am using the output device "/bandit/ATY,mach64_3D_pcc" but it boots to the OF and tells me i have "too many extents, what should i do?

If all else fails, as on my starmax 5500 did at first, I used /bandit/@11

I have a 9500/180MP. It required output-device to be set to '/bandit@F4000000/ATY,mach64@D' to get a display from Open Firmware.
