Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : X Windows :
I have an energy-star compliant monitor and I keep doing "xset dpms force off" but nothihng happens! What gives?
You must tell X that your monitor is DPMS-compliant in the config
file by adding 'option "dpms"' in your Monitor Section. For example, if your monitor is an Acer Aspire 55s, you might want to use: Section "Monitor" Identifier "acer aspire 55s" HorizSync 30-54 VertRefresh 50-110 option "dpms"EndSection soggytrousers@yahoo.com
