(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) Wish List :
Clustering of old NuBus machines
It might be useful if a Beowolf cluster could be constructed out of old NuBus PowerPCs. They are cheap and plentiful.

I'm trying to do exactly that with a bunch of 6100/66 Power Macs. (Why? Pedagogy.) My basic reference book is "How to Build a Beowulf: A Guide to the Implementation and Application of PC Clusters" by Sterling, Salmon, Becker, and Savarese. Right now I'm trying to get MkLinux on my my "worldly" node to recognize an Asante Ethernet NuBus card. Once that's working, the nodes will be able to talk on their private little network without bothering the rest of my LAN.
