(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) X Windows :
Anchor text in Mosaic is white when running Afterstep on MkLinux
When I run Mosaic 2.7b5 in the Afterstep window manager all the anchor
text (hypertext) links are white, making it difficult to use when a web
page has a white background.

Evidently when you use a 256-color display and have the Wharf running
with colorful icons Afterstep runs out of colors to assign.

Solution:

You can either shut down the Wharf, use less colorful icons, or run in
24-bit (millions of colors). Mosaic doesn't work on 16-bit displays,
as far as I know.
