BootX Crashes With Mac OS 9.0
This is a known issue with Mac OS 9.0 and BootX 1.1.3 (the lastest version currently). The next version of BootX will fix it.

For now, you can 1) Boot LinuxPPC or Yellow Dog Linux or Debian using OpenFirmware on a pre-colorful Macintosh 2) Downgrade (or boot off a disk using) older system software -- such as Mac OS 7.5.5 to 8.6.

After a new version of BootX fixes this issue, please remove this page. Thanks.

Me too. Running OS9 on a PPC 6400/200, version 1.1.3 works good for me.

Happy here as well to report Mac OS9 on a PowerBook G3 WallStreet booting and running Linux just fine (from an external Orb 2.2GB drive as well).

I have successfully installed LinuxPPC on my Sawtooth G4 and am using BootX 1.2b3 with no problems. Get the latest version from Benjamin Herrenschmidt's test page --> http://calvaweb.calvacom.fr/bh40/test.html It is still experimental but I have had no problems with it. Craig Hagerman

I got MacOS 9.1 on Powerbook 1400c with a PPC 603e processor. I can not boot with CD. I can not install BootX. It says systemfolder not found!!!!. O.K. i've tryed to fix this manually. i put the extension in extensions folder. i put the settings file "BootX Settings" in preferences folder and the BootX App in the Control Panels. Nothing to do. My Mac hangs up on boot with a error code 3. when i run the BootX App = error code 3. I must honestly say i got problems with all linux GUI systems like mandrake suse... on a PC with Mandrake :-) i dont want to say all problems on my mandrake. the linux GUI systems its not so easy to use like Mac or Windows. "i got Mandrake 9.1 PPC" it dont works after half year on my powerbook. it say all to linux on PPC
