When I'm using 32 bits per pixel, it still acts like there's a limited colormap.
(This question is answered by a linux-pmac user; the answer may not apply
to MkLinux.)

There's a bug in Xpmac's DirectColor code. The fix is to make TrueColor
the default visual class. You can do this by adding '-cc 4' as the
first server option to startx:

    startx -- -cc4
