Emacs & emulated mouse buttons don't work
Using 1999 linuxppc, while running Emacs, all emulated mouse clicks using option-2 and option-3 don't work, because the option key is being treated as an Alt modifier. So, clicking doesn't work since the key generated is A-mouse-2 and A-mouse-3 rather than mouse-2 and mouse-3. If you don't need alt keys for anything, you can fix this by creating a .Xmodmap file in your home directory containing the line
clear mod2
which will delete the useless mapping, and make emacs happy again.
