What PCI expansion cards work with LinuxPPC?
The Belkin BusPort for Mac PCI card has been tested under 2.2.6. The kernel recognizes the card.
Attached to it was a Logitech Gaming Mouse, a 3-btn USB mouse.
To make Linux recognize the mouse, I had to make two changes:
1. Ran the "mouseconfig" program. Log in as root to run it.
2. Switched from the Xpmac X server to XF68_FBDev.
cd /etc/X11 rm X ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XF68_FBDev X

The DaynaPORT E/PCI 10baseT & BNC card will be autodetected by LinuxPPC R4 and R5 in the installer. I believe it is a DECchip 21041 based card.

(FYI Dayna was bought out by Intel, check out http://support.intel.com/support/dayna/ )

I had a hard time finding a PCI NIC that would work in my PowerMac 6500.
Mostly I think this is due to poor device driver support for the PowerPC.

As of 8 June 2000:

Card Chip Driver Works?
----------------------------------------------------------------
CNet Pro110(c) (Mac) ASIX AX88140 tulip.o (.91g+.92) X
SMC EZCard 10/100 RealTek RTL8139 rtl8139.o (1.09) X
Farallon TX10/100 DEC 21143 tulip.o (0.91g) O

So stick with the supported DEC 2114x chips; don't get a cheap card.

The happauge WinTV capture/radio card works for capturing. Kernel 2.2.17pre7
This requires the new i2c software gotten at
http://www2.lm-sensors.nu/~lm78/

And the newest bttv driver at
http://www.strusel007.de/linux/bttv/

Once the i2c system has been properly installed (READ the INSTALL)
the bttv driver can be compiled seperately and will allow full use of the
capture facility.

The radio also work very well.

I got an Intel Pro100B working fine under linuxppc. Just be sure to use Donald
Becker's eepro100 driver version 1.08 (might be a newer version of this,
but not all the releases he's done of it have ppc-specific code (haven't
looked through it, but probably workarounds for byte-ordering issues). It's not
available at his old site anymore, but I'm sure a quick web search can yield a
link to it. I would imagine lots of PC network cards could have their drivers
redone to work properly on a mac.....
