I would like some thing added to Linux when you get on the internet that it will do a search for any updates for you. Then you can decide which updates you want. This would be for kernels as well as programs that you have under Linux. This would be a great help instead of having to look for these updates.

On the Intel side, I've played with tools (in RedHat 6.2 and Mandrake 7.1) that do this, and it's pretty much just a pain, at least at this stage.
First, as long as you can't install a new version of the kernel, glibc, XFree86, ALSA, Mesa (is it libGL.so.1, libMesaGL.so.3, or libGL.so.3 this week?), etc. without breaking everything, auto-updating is useless.
Second, there are so many updates to so many things that your computer would spend all day updating things you don't care about. I'm happier with rpmfind, gnorpm, and the rpmfind.net and freshmeat.net websites, to find updates that I actually care about.
