(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) System Configuration : (Category) Shared Libraries :
Where do I get the X11R6.3 distribution?
The X11 on DR2 (not DR2.1) does not use shared libraries, and is
subsequently about 90 megabytes in size (X11R6.1 and down). Chris Penney
has built a version using shared libraries:

ftp://ftp.cps.msu.edu/pub/isl/mklinux/x-shared/

This distribution is about 37 megabytes after being extracted
(compared with X11R6.1's 90 MB), comes with fvwm2, and man
pages.
