X Windows is using ALL of my memory! What's going on?

This is just how linux manages its memory. Everything you run is loaded into memory and is only pushed out if the space is needed for something else. Right now I am running KDE and Netscape, that uses all 64 megs of my real RAM and a few megs of my swap. For a good example of this try using the find utility to search for something in your entire directory structure, your will hear extensive disk access. Then immediately search for something different. The results will come up almost instantly, with no disk access. The system has cached all the information it needs into memory.
