Do we still use the "UPPERCASE" letter designation for shared library installs,
and "lowercase" for static libraries?
No, the uppercase/lowercase designations have changed meanings as of DR3. The
uppercase rpms now mean that the packages were built with gcc-2.7 while the
lowercase rpms were built with egcs-1.0. In both cases, the packages provide
shared libraries.
This pratice is followed in both the Apple MkLinux RPM archive and the LinuxPPC
RPM archive.
