Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : System Configuration : Networking : netatalk setup looks right, PAM config looks right, but the MacOS Chooser always says "password incorrect".
	Cause: You specified pam_unix_auth for netatalk authentication. This doesn't appear to work as one would expect from the PAM documentation. Try using pam_pwdb (note there is no "_auth" suffix) instead. Worked for me, at any rate... rmf@cs.columbia.edu
