(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) Trash :
WTF...I keep getting the Panic: / "No init found" on boot...
I don't know what to do...I just d/l the LinuxPPC 2000 cd image and burned it to CD. I have installed it like 3 times already thinking that maybe I did something wrong. But I have all the right partitions and whatnot. -1GB /root -32MB /boot -128MB swap Everything installes, as far as I can tell (I hear the HD grinding away) and it says everything is cool. It lets me enter the password and configure Linux but when I reboot and try to get into linux, NO DICE! I get "Unable to open initial console. No init found. Try putting init= blah blah blah" So what's the deal? I am using a G3/300 160/USB add on/IMS video I do have two HD one 15GB that is the MAC OS 9.04 and one 6GB that I am trying to install Linux on. I think it might have something to do with that...when I try to use Quik for MAC, it scans the IDE shain but doesn't see the UNIX partitions on the 6GB HD...I am not sure what to do...I am real new to this Linux backend stuff (I have used it for the web).
Any help would be nice...thanks. -randy
