parttionning
Good morning,
I have an imac 233 MHZ with 128 MO RAM a four parts partitionned hard disk : one for Mac os 9.0, one for Mac os 8.6 (old system for security, one for Virtual pc and Windows 98.
I want to install linux ppc on the last partition (HFS partition). That version is on CDrom (www.linuxppc.com)I dont understand partitionning for linux. I install boot X, but partitionning using x-term and pdisk is not possible /dev/hda permission denied ...Is it possible ?
Can you help me for the partitionning. I an a beginner.
Thank you very much,

I get the same error. I put in a Maxtor 10G Hard drive as an upgrade from the 4Gb one. I have iMac Rev. b., 96MB RAM.
When I first put the new drive in, I was able to use the yaBoot boot up. I used Disk Druid for my drive partitioning. Everything went fine until the install was about finished, then it crashed. From that point, I had to go to the MacOS config. for install.
From this point on, I had to use the Bootx. I had to install a small partition for MacOS, using the Mac Disk Setup to partition the drive. This time, I could not use the Disk Druid, I have to use fdisk, and I get the same error you get with pdisk when I write the partitions. ( Drive is not ready ).
I am going to put in a call to YellowDog folks and get some help. I'll document what I do and pass it along.
Good Luck,
