What's wrong with my PPP
Has anyone else seen the problem where PPP suddenly stops working, or more specifically where access /dev/ttys0 stops working???
I have been using PPP fine on my 266G3 running LinuxPPC R5, and just today, I can't get at the modem. When pppd starts chat, chat sends some commands to the modem (the lights on the modem blink), and it appears that the modem doesn't respond. I can't get the modem to respond via minicom, but if I 'echo "AT" > /dev/modem' lights blink there as well.
Any ideas on what's happened???
(nothing has changed about the modem, linux setup, etc... just kapoot.)

I have also had this problem for several months on a G3/233 with both R4 and R5, but not MKLinux. It usually occurs after heavy use of the serial port (i.e. serious web surfing). It's not the modem because simply switching to /dev/ttyS1 in the ppp options and pluging the modem into the printer port makes everything work fine. The only fix I have found is a reboot, which clears it up. I suspect a bug in the kernel serial driver. (but what do I know?)
