(Answer) (Category) Linux on PowerPC FAQ-O-Matic : (Category) Trash :
Third time lucky...? Not yet! (v4 on a PB3400 probs)
Hello to one and all.
New to the Linux sceen and ashamed of it...
Ok so I get MkLinux and load it on my PowerBook 3400. It doesn't reconise anything...well almost. So I deceide to go for PPC Linux.
The 3400 beeps at me now!
But.... I still cant get the PCMCIA ethernet card to work (Motorola ECA2000 or something like that) and without a network I cant get any new software onto the machine. The "CD player" doesn't work either. And even having followed the FAQ-Omatic entries I cant change the window manger!
Am I sputid or is there a problem with Linux and PowerBooks?
I also get an error during the install ...
RPM install of glibc-info failed: execution of script failed OK
(an install that I have run many a time having tried many variations of getting another WM to work and the 'puter freazing on me...)
Why am I trying to load Linux....? so that I know what it is! With William Portals swinging his Window mania everywhere my aim is to learn about Linux and how to use it. And for me, that starts with networking and communications...
So, if any of you "bin there, done that" people can help me out... (tips, dont doos, dont forget to's...etc) then mail me direct (please)...

thanks to all and one...

PowerBook 3400 is now supported by SuSe, you can download the image for this particular OS in http://www.suse.de/us/products/suse_linux/ppc/system_requirements.html good luck!
